90% of quarrels are due to the wrong tone of voice

A survey brought out that 90% of the quarrels erupt due to a wrong tone of voice. Only 10% of the quarrels are due to differences in opinion. Based on my experience as a Lawyer and what I saw in others, I think that this is true. So what is a wrong tone of voice?

Tone can mean a few different things to different people, but it usually comes down to attitude of a person i.e. the quality or feeling expressed in the words you are using. Also, there’s a difference between voice and tone as you have the same voice all the time but your tone changes and a wrong tone gives a very different message which triggers the conflicts and it leads to hurting feelings, disappointment, and discomfort. When handled in an unhealthy manner, it can cause irreparable rifts, resentments, and break-ups and even court cases, civil and /or criminal.

On Working through a dispute it requires unpeeling the onion through layers of miscommunication, overtone and hidden meaning where the crux of the issue, many times, is lost in a blast of accusations,
To successfully resolve a conflict, you will need to learn and practice the use of right tone in your voice as communication having a sense of respect towards the other party, can definitely lead to resolving of conflicts in a healthy way,
However, humor can also help you to say things that might otherwise be difficult to express without offending someone. And, it increases our understanding of one another and strengthens our relationship.

As for the remaining 10% of conflicts- these are due difference of opinion. These are usually a result of failures to listen and understand each others’ needs, wants and requirements.
So, we can say that wrong tone is the mother of all misunderstandings
and conflicts.
